Morera Residence – Del Mar, CA
Working with the architect, builder and client throughout the entire building process allowed us to create a seamless flow inside and out in this modern craftsman style home. Colored concrete interior floors extend through large pocketing sliding glass doors to become outdoor rooms. Tall kentia palms sway over the dining courtyard, which features a Caribbean bar, honed black granite topped outdoor kitchen, and legerstone and slate fireplace.
Red sugar cane, kangaroo paws, reeds and a Caribbean Copper tree stand out against the corrugated galvanized metal fence and deep umber stucco. Off the dining room, an outdoor courtyard contains an in ground spa and curved granite water wall, comfortable teak loungers and a raised charcoal concrete and Ipe fire element to take off the chill. A beautifully crafted pebble and slate mosaic in the entry extends out from the front door to become an exposed aggregate and slate entry path. Dracaenas, yuccas and aloes add an architectural element to the front garden with its rusted metal sculpture and bench.
