A Tranquil Retreat – Rancho Santa Fe, CA
Working with interior designer Lori Gentile, we transformed an unremarkable pool and series of patios into our version of a modern tropical retreat. The new outdoor living spaces easily accommodate the large gatherings of family and friends that this very outgoing couple routinely entertain. Pool and spa were resurfaced with mosaic glass tiles and rich Carmel stone coping. An ipe deck houses modular wicker seating units shaded by cantilever umbrellas. Concrete gas fire bowls (3!) are surrounded by soft low lounge chairs. Two zinc roofed pavilions, with Carmel stone columns, distressed wood ceilings and bronze pendant lighting soar over the space- one providing dining seating for 24, the other housing a teak day bed and bio ethanol burning fireplace. Did we mention the stone topped outdoor kitchen with bar seating and teak framed oversize tv.
